Is Gardz the same as Kilz

Kilz product is thin but I believe it has a little more workability than Gardz. And no odors isn’t as strong either. Also price wise the Klear is about ten dollars cheaper a gallon. The Gardz seems to seal soft compounds to a harder finish but that could just be me.

Do I need to prime after using Gardz?

Gardz is more of a sealer, with glue like consistency. It’s clear and doesn’t do much to prime. You can try painting over it, but again it’s clear, so no help with covering stains or discoloration.

@p16 Used Gardz quite successfully and also Rustins MDF Sealer. Agree with the some of you about the fact it is water based may cause an issue and using something like Coverstain may be better.
